Since November, Iran's IRGC forces have captured 150 extremists and killed another 100 during counter-terrorism operations in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchistan, according to a top commander.
Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour, the commander of the IRGC Ground Forces, revealed the data Thursday at a memorial service for security soldiers killed in an April 6, 2024, incident in Rask, Sistan and Balouchistan.
A soldier, a security guard, a Basij volunteer force, and 2 police officers were among the martyrs, while five terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire, according to IRNA at the time.
The Deputy Interior Minister of Iran Seyyed Majid Mirahmadi said a group from the terrorist organization, Jaish ul-Adl, conducted two simultaneous attacks on the headquarters of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Naval Guard in Chabahar and Rask, in the province of Sistan and Baluchestan, southeastern Iran, on the evening of April 3.
Referring to this incident, Pakpour stated that "all 18 terrorists killed in those operations were foreigners disguised as local fuel smugglers."
"They had hidden weapons in fuel containers."
He referenced confessions from detained accomplices as proof of this narrative, encouraging locals to stay vigilant and prevent foreign people from impersonating citizens.
Addressing a separate incident in Goharkouh, he stated that security operations resulted in the arrest of over 150 militants and the elimination of 100 others, detailing how the detained individuals confessed to receiving instructions from a fugitive based in Rask who had aligned with anti-government groups abroad.
Pakpour urged locals not to be swayed by such figures and cautioned against renting property to unknown individuals who could threaten the region’s security and progress.
He closed by expressing his solidarity for the families of fallen security officers, expressing that "We must all work together to address the problems of the martyrs' families—those who sacrificed their loved ones for this nation's safety."
