The International Committee of the Red Cross announced the release of 7 Palestinians detained by Israeli occupation forces from the Gaza Strip.
On Thursday, the ICRC confirmed that the freed detainees were moved from the Kissufim crossing to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in central Gaza for a medical checkup. The ICRC team said it assisted the seven released detainees in contacting their families to arrange their reunion, noting that its staff remain unable to visit Palestinian prisoners and detainees held in Israeli detention facilities.
The freed detainees were identified by local Palestinian media as:
- Mohrez Samir Mohrez Tari, 34 years old, from Jabalia;
- Adeeb Karem Karem Eid, 30 years old, from Jabalia;
- Yassine Shaaban Sobh Halawa, 40 years old, from Jabalia;
- Nabil Hamdi Abed Dalool, 58 years old, from al-Zaytoun;
- Khaled Mustafa Abdelaziz Abou Raya, 51 years old, from Gaza City;
- Mahmoud Abdelhaqq Mohammad Alloush, 45 years old, from Jabalia;
- Moussa Abdelhaqq Mohammad Alloush, 43 years old, from Jabalia.
60-year-old detainee killed in Israeli prisons
Yesterday, the Palestinian Prisoners' Society (PPS) and the Commission for Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs announced on Wednesday the death of 60-year-old detainee Sayel Rajab Abu Nasr, who had been detained by Israeli forces from Gaza after October 7, 2023.
With his death, the number of Palestinian prisoners and detainees who have died since the start of the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza has risen to 75, including 46 from Gaza whose identities have been confirmed.
According to the two organizations, the Palestinian Captive Movement has documented 312 prisoner deaths since 1967, all verified cases of identified detainees, noting that the current period represents the deadliest chapter in the prisoners' history, with the harshest detention conditions ever recorded.
In a joint statement, the organizations detailed numerous Israeli violations against Palestinian detainees during the Gaza conflict, citing practices such as torture, deliberate starvation, denial of medical care, and sexual violence.
They emphasized that prisoner testimonies gathered in recent months have exposed what they describe as some of the most severe and methodical cases of ongoing institutionalized abuse.
It should be noted that the total number of Palestinian prisoners and detainees in Israeli occupation prisons has now reached more than 10,800 as of the beginning of July 2025, though this figure only includes those held in facilities run by the Israeli Prison Service and does not account for detainees held in military camps operated by the occupation forces.
