Terrorist Groups Violate Settlement Agreement in Daraa al-Balad
Today, Saturday, Syrian news agency SANA reported that 2 citizens were killed, while a third was wounded by an armed group fire in the town of al-Naima at the eastern entrance to the city of Daraa.
This comes a day after the settlement agreement was suspended in Daraa al-Balad since terrorist militants refused to hand over their weapons.
SANA said that two days after agreeing to the settlement which guaranteed the exit of the militants sans weapons, the terrorists refused to hand over light and medium weapons - hence disrupting the settlement.
The agency quoted a field source accompanying the settlement process, saying that "The militants are trying to kidnap the fate of the people in Daraa al-Balad neighborhood by using them as hostages in the settlement process, and as human shields in any military operation that the army may resort to if the peaceful settlement fails."
The Syrian Arab Army units had brought military reinforcements to the vicinity of Daraa al-Balad neighborhood after "repeated attacks with rocket shells and explosives launched by terror groups on residential neighborhoods and army checkpoints in the city, and after the terrorists disrupted several peaceful attempts to settle the situation and expel the terrorists who reject the settlement," mentioned SANA.
It is noteworthy that a group of terrorists had already left for northern Syria according to the agreement, and a number of wanted militants surrendered in the settlement center in the Al-Arbaeen neighborhood before the process was disrupted.
