A High-Level Meeting Took Place Between Iran and Arab Countries
The Iranian foreign minister meets representatives of the countries participating in the Baghdad summit, including Saudi Arabia. He stressed the importance of maintaining security and adopting diplomatic dialogue in the region.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said that Iran has always stressed that achieving security and stability in the region needs security arrangements emanating from within the countries of the region.
During a meeting of representatives of the countries participating in the recent Baghdad summit, Amirabdollahian stressed that diplomacy and dialogue are the way to solve crises, overcome problems, remove ambiguities and resolve differences. The minister added that without that, opportunities, capabilities, and wealth of countries in the region will be employed to support military spending and to fuel crises. Consequently, tension will rise and wars will continue.

The meeting, which was held at the residence of the Iraqi Foreign Minister in New York, was attended by foreign ministers or senior officials from Iran, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, and France. In addition, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, the Secretary-General (SG) of the Arab League, the SG of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the SG of the GCC were also present and attending.

Amirabdollahian renewed his praise for the convening of the last Baghdad conference, considering it an important step to support peace and development in the region. He affirmed his country's support for security, stability, and development in Iraq and the rest of the region.
In the previous hours, Amirabdollahian also met with several European officials, led by the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell. Borrell stressed that the new Iranian government will not link the internal economy to the nuclear agreement. He called on Washington to adhere to its commitments under the nuclear agreement and UNSC resolution 2231.
