The Editor-in-chief of the Iran Diplomatic newspaper, Imad Abshnas
The Editor-in-chief of the Iran Diplomatic newspaper, Imad Abshnas, said Monday that the visit of the EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell to Tehran was the result of Qatari and European efforts and several behind-the-scenes movements.
In an interview for Al Mayadeen, Abshnas said that during the period of the negotiations' hiatus, everyone in the region agreed on easing the tension.
Abshnas explained that Iraqi President Mustafa Al-Kadhimi's visit to Tehran is not a coincidence, noting that the negotiations in Qatar are different from Vienna.
He added that the United States made guarantees, and the Europeans visited Tehran to guarantee the US pledges, especially the pledges of not withdrawing from the agreement.

The Editor-in-chief added that in Doha, only US guarantees about not withdrawing from a nuclear agreement will be negotiated, pointing out that "Israel" is angered for not knowing what happened behind the scenes between Iran, the Europeans, and the US.
Abshnas revealed that the file of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) was agreed upon in the behind-the-scenes negotiations, stressing that the IRGC will be later removed from the US list of terror.
Abshnas told Al Mayadeen that US President Joe Biden will assure US companies that will invest in Iran that they will be protected from sanctions if Washington withdraws from the agreement, adding that the Americans and Europeans want to sign the agreement before Biden's visit to the Middle East.
He also said that along with the UAE, Saudi Arabia sent a message to Iran via Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi telling Iran that Riyadh will not participate in any alliance against Tehran.
