Abu Dhabi: Explosion leaves 2 dead and several injured

Abu Dhabi explosion
On Monday, Abu Dhabi police pronounced 2 people dead and reported 120 injuries ranging between mild and moderate, as a result of the explosion of a gas cylinder in one of the restaurants.
The Metropolitan Police has announced via their Twitter account that the injured were hospitalized and had received the necessary medical treatment. Furthermore, the explosion resulted in material damage to shops across 6 surrounding buildings.

The fire caused by the explosion was contained with the support of the Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Authority, and 4 residential buildings were evacuated ensuring the safety and security of all their residents.
Pictures published by local media showed broken glass and rubble scattered along the sidewalk. The restaurant is located in Khalidiya, an area near the capital's waterfront.
