After school strike, UN rapporteur accuses 'Israel' of genocide
UN-appointed special rapporteur Francesca Albanese accuses "Israel" of committing genocide in its war on Gaza after an Israeli strike targeted the Al-Tabieen school.
A UN-appointed rights expert has accused "Israel" of committing genocide in the war on Gaza following an Israeli strike on a school on Saturday that massacred more than 150 unarmed Palestinians.
"Israel is genociding the Palestinians one neighborhood at the time, one hospital at the time, one school at the time, one refugee camp at the time, one safe zone at the time," Francesca Albanese, the United Nations special rapporteur on the rights situation in the Palestinian territories said on social media platform X.
Albanese stressed that "Israel" was carrying out such strikes against Palestinians using "US and European weapons", adding "May the Palestinians forgive us for our collective inability to protect them."
In a report submitted in March, she said there were "reasonable grounds" to determine that "Israel" had committed several acts of "genocide" in its war on Gaza.
"Israel," which has long been critical of Albanese and her mandate, denounced her report as an "obscene inversion of reality."
Gaza: In the largest and most shameful concentration camp of the 21st century, Israel is genociding the Palestinians one neighborhood at the time, one hospital at the time, one school at the time, one refugee camp at the time, one 'safe zone' at the time. Israeli occupation forces have carried out multiple massacres in the Gaza Strip as part of an ongoing genocidal campaign that has persisted for 309 days. These relentless attacks have resulted in the martyrdom of dozens of Palestinians across various areas of the besieged enclave, with the school massacre being the latest.
"Israel" committed a horrendous massacre during the early hours of Saturday at the Al-Tabieen school in Gaza City, killing over 100 Palestinians and wounding dozens of others.
"Due to the enormity of the massacre and the rising number of victims, medical and civil defense teams have not yet been able to retrieve all the bodies," Gaza's Government Media Office said in a statement.
The media office held both "Israel" and the US administration responsible, pointing out that the Israeli occupation army launched a direct attack on the school, where many displaced individuals who had sought refuge were performing morning prayers, which led to a massive number of martyrs.
