In a message to his Lebanese counterpart Michel Aoun, Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad underlined that the victory achieved 22 years ago will still be recognized as an honorable period in history because it restored rights and brought down the occupation’s conspiracies."

Al-Assad stressed that the victory of May 25, 2000 proved the righteousness of the resistance path, considering it a natural right in response to any violation of sovereignty.

The Syrian president concluded his message by saying: "These heroes will remain a model in giving and devotion."

It is worth mentioning that Lebanon celebrates "Liberation Day" on May 25, which witnessed the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from cities and villages of western Bekaa and southern Lebanon in the year 2000.
