Al Mayadeen's sources deny SDF presence in eastern Syrian cities
The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces are deployed along the road of Deir Ezzor, in coordination with the Syrian army.
Sources close to Al Mayadeen confirmed that military convoys of the US-Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) crossed through the al-Salihiya crossing towards the Damascus-Deir Ezzor road, in coordination with the Syrian Arab Army.
According to the sources, the SDF has begun dispersing in the Panorama entrance toward al-Haribsha, located on the administrative border between Homs and Deir Ezzor. The forces have also seized control of the Bukamal crossing after being deployed along the road from Deir Ezzor to al-Mayadin and Bukamal.
For its part, the Deir Ezzor Military Council, affiliated with the SDF, indicated that "the developments taking place in our homeland, Syria, pose a threat to the security of our people and our region in Deir Ezzor," adding that "the mercenary groups affiliated with the Turkish occupation and ISIS mercenaries are active again in the Deir Ezzor desert."
While the Council said that its fighters were deployed in the city of Deir Ezzor and west of the Euphrates, Al Mayadeen's sources denied that the SDF had entered the city of Deir Ezzor and the cities of al-Mayadin and Bukamal, confirming the presence of state institutions and police units in all of them, while service agencies continue to provide all available services to the residents.
SDF head reports on increased ISIS activity in Syria's eastern regions
Earlier today, the General Commander of the US-backed group, Mazloum Abdi, confirmed increased ISIS activity in the Syrian Desert and reassured the residents of al-Raqqa, al-Tabqa, and Deir Ezzor that the SDF is prepared to protect all people in the region.
Speaking about the recent developments in Syria, Abdi noted that these events have led to a noticeable increase in ISIS movements in the Syrian Desert, as well as in the countryside of Deir Ezzor and al-Raqqa.
He confirmed that ISIS has managed to regain control of some areas in these regions, posing an escalating security threat.
To address this, the SDF intends to intensify its cooperation with the US-led International Coalition in the coming period, he indicated.
Abdi stressed that the current situation in Syria requires swift action to protect civilians and establish security in the northern and eastern regions. He also announced that SDF forces had regained control of several areas previously vacated by Syrian government forces.
Abdi emphasized that the recent developments in Syria necessitate reducing tensions with all parties to achieve a political solution in the country, which we support in line with Resolution 2245.
