Al Mayadeen Sources: SDF Leadership to Change, Ushering in New Phase
Al Mayadeen's sources report that SDF's Leader, Mazloum Abdi, will be replaced by someone from without the spectrum of known PKK leaders.
Al Mayadeen has learned, from reliable sources, that the "Syrian Democratic Forces" (SDF) leadership is set to go through administrative and military changes. These changes will set the atmosphere for a new phase and remove any excuses Turkey might have for launching a new military campaign against the SDF, by tackling accusations of the SDF being affiliated with the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
The sources confirmed that the change will affect the SDF's General Commander, Mazlum Abdi, so that a new non-PKK leader would be chosen in his stead.
Abdi, the sources indicate, will be quietly entrusted with the administration of the Syrian Democratic Council and the "Self-Administration" dossier to rearrange them, and he will be relieved of military duty.
The sources considered that this step is part of many the SDF will take so that Ankara will have no excuse to attack Northern and Eastern Syria.
