Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced on Sunday that its fighters targeted an Israeli Merkava 4 tank with a Yassin-105 anti-tank rocket in the eastern al-Tuffah neighborhood of Gaza City.
In a separate operation in the same area, al-Qassam fighters detonated an anti-personnel explosive device, resulting in multiple Israeli occupation soldiers being killed or wounded.
Simultaneously, al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), confirmed it had launched a guided missile at an Israeli military barracks located in a house occupied by soldiers east of al-Tuffah.
Amid the intensifying battles, Israel Hayom reported that the Israeli occupation was preparing to call up additional reserve forces due to the mounting toll of dead and wounded in its ranks in Gaza.
'Israel' faces troop shortages
Yoav Zeitoun, a military analyst for Yedioth Ahronoth, revealed that the Israeli occupation forces face a severe shortage of combat troops, prompting the activation of Order 77, which extends the service of regular soldiers by an additional four months in reserve duty after completing their mandatory service.
Zeitoun noted that the army views this as a temporary solution to a shortage of around 10,000 soldiers, including 7,000 combat troops, stating that the order would remain in effect until the security situation improves or new legislation is introduced.
Meanwhile, former head of operations in the Israeli army, Reserve Major General Israel Ziv, admitted that the situation in Gaza was "very concerning," warning that "Israel" was falling into a dangerous trap, while noting that Hamas is "operating more intelligently than Israel."
Growing anger among senior IOF officers: 'Either destroy Gaza or withdraw from it'
In a related context, "Israel's" Channel 14 reported growing anger among senior officers in the Israeli military, quoting them as saying, "A decision must be made: either destroy Gaza or withdraw from it; the blood of soldiers is not cheap."
In this context, "Israel's" Channel 12 military correspondent stated that "the army has been operating in Gaza without a clear objective since the end of the ceasefire."
He added that "there is neither a large-scale military operation nor genuine political action," noting that "fighters are being put at risk daily without achieving any significant security gains or making progress on the return of captives."
The correspondent stressed that "it is time for decision-makers to make a choice: either a deal or a war."
