The al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas Resistance movement, shows its fighters attacking Israeli military vehicles in an ambush in Rafah.
The al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas Resistance movement, released footage via Al Mayadeen showing their fighters executing a meticulously planned ambush targeting several Israeli military vehicles on George Street, east of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.
The footage, aired on Tuesday night on Al Mayadeen, depicted al-Qassam fighters huddled over a map of Rafah, with one fighter explaining how the ambush named "Martyred Commander Ismail Haniyeh Ambush" was carried out.
The ambush was to pay tribute to martyred Hamas commander Ismail Haniyeh, who was killed by a missile strike on his guest house in Tehran, Iran, where he was attending the inauguration ceremony of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
One al-Qassam fighter is seen advancing with a powerful explosive device towards an Israeli Namer armored personnel carrier (APC). He plants the device beneath it and detonates it seconds after retreating.
A successful ambush
In a statement released on Tuesday, the al-Qassam Brigades confirmed that their fighters successfully ensnared an Israeli armored force in a precise ambush. They said they destroyed two Namer personnel carriers using a Shawaz armor-piercing explosive device and two al-Yassin 105 anti-tank RPGs.

Additionally, they targeted two Merkava tanks with a ground explosive device and an al-Yassin 105 anti-tank rocket on George Street, near the al-Tabi'in Mosque.
Continuing the pre-planned ambush in eastern Rafah, al-Qassam fighters managed to target another Merkava tank that had arrived as part of an extraction team to aid the troops wounded in the ambush targeting the APC. The fighters also reported that helicopters landed in the area to evacuate the casualties.
Moreover, in Rafah, al-Qassam fighters successfully sniped an Israeli soldier using a Ghoul rifle near the Swedish village west of the city.

Hamas stressed earlier that Haniyeh's martyrdom would only increase its strength and determination to continue on its path, noting that his "pure, noble blood will ignite the fire of Resistance and increase its intensity and escalation."
The movement pointed out in its statement that it is distinguished by its high institutionalism and its firm Shura Council, which was reflected in the facts and events during the past decades that witnessed the martyrdom of a number of its leaders, as it was quick to choose their successors according to the movement’s regulations and systems.
Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip performed the absentee funeral prayer (Salat al-Gha'ib) for the soul of the Hamas political bureau chief.
This solemn act of remembrance was mirrored in various Palestinian cities, with tens of thousands of worshippers in the West Bank and occupied al-Quds also conducting prayers in his honor at al-Aqsa Mosque and numerous other mosques across the region.
