Al-Sadr: To present draft criminalizing normalization with 'Israel'
The Iraqi Sadrist Movement intends to introduce a law that criminalizes normalization with "Israel".
The leader of the Iraqi Sadrist movement, Muqtada Al-Sadr, has announced today, Saturday, the intention of his bloc and its allies to present a draft proposal to "criminalize normalization with Israel" for a vote in the Iraqi parliament.
Al-Sadr tweeted, "One of the most important reasons that called me to involve the Sadrist movement in the electoral process again is the issue of normalization and Israeli ambitions to dominate our beloved Iraq."

It is noteworthy that Iraq does not establish any relations with "Israel", and the government and most political forces reject normalization with it.
Al-Sadr has repeatedly announced his movement's opposition to normalizing ties with "Israel." He harshly criticized some Gulf countries, including the United Arab Emirates, who have normalized ties with "Israel."
On September 26, 2021, the Media Center of the Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq announced that al-Karkh First Investigation Court issued arrests warrants against Wissam Al-Hardan and several others for their role in calling for normalization with "Israel" during the "Peace and Reclamation" conference. The conference was held in Iraqi Kurdistan region's capital city, Erbil.
The conference triggered a chain of condemnations by Iraqi authorities.
