Al-Akhras calls for protests in support of prisoners
Liberated Prisoner Maher al-Akhras stresses that the prisoners cannot be defeated by the Israeli occupation and calls on the Palestinians to take to the streets in support of the prisoners.
The official in the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement, Maher al-Akhras, announced on Saturday that through its continuous crimes, the Israeli occupation is trying to suppress the popular movements in Nablus.
In an interview for Al Mayadeen, al-Akhras affirmed that the Palestinian prisoners cannot be defeated by the occupation.
He also explained that freezing the administrative detention and then reactivating it is a scheme played by the Israeli occupation, which will not deceive the prisoners.
The former prisoner called on the Palestinians to take to the streets in support of the prisoners and to block roads in front of settlers.
Al-Akhras stressed that the Palestinian Authority is required to mobilize its embassies around the world in support of the prisoners.
Confrontations with the Israeli occupation forces erupted on Friday at the northern entrance of the city of al-Khalil, following a march in support of the prisoners on hunger strike in the occupation prisons.
Six Palestinian prisoners continue their open hunger strike in protest of the Israeli administrative detention policy amid deteriorating health conditions threatening their lives.
Al-Akhras underwent administrative detention in occupation jails in 2009 for 16 months.
The liberated prisoner was a victim of another administrative detention in 2018 and 2020, where he fought an empty stomach battle and carried out a hunger strike that lasted 103 days in protest of his detention.
