Al-Asadi Hails 'Smooth Running' of Iraqi Elections
In an exclusive interview for Al Myadeen, head of the National Iraqi Sindh bloc Ahmed Al-Asadi said that the years of political failure marked a decline in the participation rate.
The head of the Sindh bloc Ahmed Al-Asadi cited "smooth running" of the Iraqi legislative elections, attributing it to security measures.
In an exclusive interview for Al Mayadeen, Al-Asadi indicated that “corruption, political blockages, and unemployment mirrored the low turnout”, adding the political failure over the past years has marked a decline in the participation rate.
The top Iraqi figure went on to say that voter turnout will not exceed 40%.
“The greater the probability that the most organized clans, tribes, and parties will receive the majority of the votes cast,” he added.
Furthermore, Al-Asadi stressed that big political blocs will maintain their shares in the Iraqi vote.
