Al-Burhan: Formation of Committee for recovering al-Bashir funds
Abdel Fattah al-Burhan has announced forming a committee to receive recovered funds by the Empowerment Removal Committee, which was tasked with dismantling the regime of former President Omar al-Bashir.
Commander of the Sudanese Army, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, announced the formation of a committee to review and retrieve funds recovered by the former regime through the Empowerment Removal Committee, according to Sudanese television.
The Empowerment Removal Committee was tasked with dismantling the regime of former President Omar al-Bashir, who was overthrown in April 2019.
On October 25, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan declared a state of emergency and announced the dissolution of the Sovereign Council and the government in Sudan.
Al-Burhan previously disclosed that the measures he had taken were aimed at saving the country from a civil war.
The commander denied that the army killed protesters after mass demonstrations were held in the city of Omdurman, near Khartoum.
"The Sudanese army does not kill citizens, and there are investigation committees to reveal what happened," he said.
