Amir Moussavi, director of the Strategic Studies and International Affairs Center, told Al Mayadeen that the United States and "Israel" do not want a stable Iraq, noting that the latest conspiracy against Iraq was "extremely dangerous".

"Attempts on the lives of leaders are nothing new," he asserted in light of the assassination attempt on Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi at his residence in the Green Zone, Baghdad.

"Some past assassination attempts in Iraq were made to mobilize [hatred] against Iran, but PM al-Kadhimi has good ties with Iran, and the conspiracy is as clear as day," he explained.

Moussavi noted how IRGC Quds Force Commander Esmail Qaani went to Iraq with clear documents he took there to avert discord, revealing that the General has accurate information on drones due to the long range of the Iranian radars.

Qaani's visit was at the request of Iraqi President Barham Saleh and several political factions, which was one of the reasons behind the success of his visit, Moussavi added.

During Qaani's visit that saw him meeting with several Iraqi factions, "Al-Kadhimi requested to have a swift meeting with Sayyed Khamenei, which reflects the depth of [Iraqi-Iranian] ties," Moussavi revealed.

Moussavi asserted that Iran would welcome an Iraqi political consensus on the re-election of al-Kadhimi.

On another note, the expert spoke to Al Mayadeen about the negotiations between Iran and Saudi in Baghdad, describing them as "positive". "However, they took a turn after Saudi Foreign Minister bin Farhan went to Washington," he added.

Moussavi concluded by arguing that the way Saudi Arabia acted with Lebanon was not logical, "and what Lebanese Information Minister George Kordahi said was normal."
