Al-Kadhimi to Macron: We Seek Stronger Intelligence and Security Collaboration
Mustafa al-Kadhimi, Iraq's Prime Minister, values France's assistance in the battle against terrorism.
Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi stated today, Saturday, in a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron, that the two countries' cooperative bilateral cooperation is built on a long-term strategic economic partnership.
Al-Kadhimi stresses the importance of implementing economic projects between the two countries, especially infrastructure and energy.
Al-Kadhimi also detailed the prospects for developing the relationship between the countries and benefiting from the French experience in oil, electricity, transport, industries, military, and other projects.
The Iraqi Prime Minister also expressed his gratitude to the French President, praising him for France's contribution to defeating ISIS, along with his participation in the Baghdad Conference that will be held today.
The Prime Minister also praised the French role in assisting Iraq in the battle against terrorism, either directly or through France's position in the coalition of nations.
Al-Kadhimi stressed that Iraq has a serious desire to deepen cultural relations with France and expand in the field, benefit from bilateral experiences, and expand the field of exchange between the two countries.
Earlier, after meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi, French President Emmanuel Macron described the gathering of countries at the Baghdad Conference as a "true success".
The Prime Minister's media office confirmed that a number of Presidents and Kings will participate along with Macron. The conference is being held today, Saturday, and along with international organizations, includes the Egyptian President, the Jordanian King, the Emir of Qatar, and the Foreign Ministers of Iran and Saudi Arabia.
