Tehran Will Attend the Baghdad Conference
The Iranian Foreign Ministry announced that Iran will attend the Baghdad Conference at the end of this month, but that Tehran has not yet decided on the level of its participation.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry announced that "Tehran will participate in the regional meeting in Baghdad on August 28," but that "it has not yet made a decision about the degree of its presence in the conference."
Al Mayadeen correspondent in Iraq previously reported that leaders from Saudi Arabia, Iran, Turkey, the Emirates, Qatar, Egypt, and Jordan will attend the Baghdad meeting, noting out that Iraqi attempts are on to bring those leaders together and establish shared areas of convergence.
According to the correspondent, French President Emmanuel Macron is expected to attend the conference as well.
Also mentioned were Iraqi efforts to organize a bilateral meeting between Saudi Arabia and Iran on the sidelines of the summit, emphasizing Baghdad's desire to end the estrangement between Tehran and Riyadh after having unannounced bilateral meetings.
