Amir-Abdollahian to Germany: Cooperation or confrontation
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian says that Germany's confrontational attitudes and meddling in Tehran’s domestic affairs will ruin bilateral relations and have long-term repercussions.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian tweeted that “provocative, interventionist and undiplomatic stances don't signal sophistication and wisdom”, and that “undermining old ties has long-term consequences”.
Addressing his German counterpart Annalena Baerbock, Amir-Abdollahian tersely stated that “Germany can choose engagement to address shared challenges-or confrontation”.
He has also warned that Iran’s response will be proportionate and firm.

The German embassy played a role in the recent riots in Iran, Tehran's Fars News revealed last month, according to informed sources.
"The German embassy played a significant and influential role in exercising diplomatic pressure on Iran during the riots in the country," sources told Fars.
"The German embassy in Tehran played a pivotal role in igniting the riots in the country, and embassy officials held meetings with officials of a number of other European embassies to expand the conflict and tension in Iran," the sources added.
A spokesperson from Germany's Foreign Office said earlier this month that discussions are being held in the EU for the elaboration of a new package of sanctions against Iran over the riots taking place in the country.
