Amir-Abdollahian: Tehran will continue to support Palestinian people
Iran's Foreign Minister holds talks with Palestinian and Lebanese political officials attending the 33rd anniversary of Imam Khomeini's demise in Tehran.
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Iran's Foreign Minister, said on Monday that his country will not relinquish its rights, not in negotiations, and not in the Palestinian cause in defense of the Palestinian people.
During his meeting with leaders and officials from Palestinian and Lebanese Resistance movements, Amir-Abdollahian said that the Islamic Republic will never back down from its principlist stances.
He further stressed that Tehran will continue to support the Resistance and the struggle of the Palestinian people for liberation, considering the "normalization of Islamic countries with the Zionist entity" to be a betrayal of Palestine, and is "something they will regret doing."
Amir-Abdollahian said the main solution of the Palestinian cause lies in the return of the refugees and the execution of a referendum among the land's original inhabitants.
The Iranian Foreign Minister had revealed on April 27 a political initiative presented by Tehran, to conduct a referendum in Palestine to determine its future, with the participation of Palestine's indigenous population, Christians, Muslims, and Jews, and not its unwelcome settlers. He further noted that as a result of this direct referendum, a unified Palestinian government would be formed that rules over the entirety of Palestinian soil.
