Amir-Abdollahian: Iran seeks to continue efforts to lift sanctions.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian announced Tuesday that the US and European Troika must understand the current window for negotiations on the nuclear program will not remain open forever.
The Iranian FM was quoted in the Russian newspaper Kommersant as saying that Tehran seeks to continue its active efforts to lift the illegal sanctions imposed on the country, while concurrently attempting to thwart the impact of the sanctions and the sustainable economic development of the country.
He pointed out that during the previous rounds, the Iranians realized that the Americans fail to see that reviving the deal is impossible without lifting the sanctions it imposed on the people of Iran although the US was the one who withdrew from the agreement.
He also considered that UN Resolution 2231 explicitly asks all parties to the nuclear agreement to support it and refrain from actions that could harm the deal.
This comes at a time when Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi underscored Sunday that the Islamic Republic was working hard to lift sanctions. "Lifting sanctions is being pursued with vigor," he asserted.
An Iranian official stated earlier Tuesday that Washington's reluctance to lift sanctions is the main challenge to the Vienna Talks, adding that if European powers showed serious political will and flexibility, an agreement could be reached.
Al Mayadeen correspondent to Vienna reported that the international talks on Iran's nuclear program will be suspended on Friday, adding that the diplomats intend to return home for consultations.
