Amir-Abdollahian: Expanding ties with Oman is a priority
Iranian FM Hossein Amir-Abdollahian meets with Omani Deputy FM for Political Affairs Khalifa al-Harthy to discuss bilateral relations, joint commercial cooperation, and the war on Yemen.
The Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian assured that improving and expanding ties with neighboring countries is at the center of the foreign policy of President Ebrahim Raisi's administration, noting that Iran attaches great importance to its ties with Oman.
These remarks came during his meeting with the Omani Foreign Ministry’s under-secretary for diplomatic affairs, Khalifa bin Ali bin Issa al-Harthy, in Tehran on Saturday.
Amir-Abdollahian also emphasized the importance of bilateral efforts to increase the volume of trade between the two countries to the level of friendly ties between the two countries.
"Tehran is committed to dialogue and the adoption of political solutions to regional problems," according to Iran's foreign minister, emphasizing Iran's willingness to hold talks with regional countries to strengthen bilateral ties.
On the situation in Yemen, the top Iranian diplomat expressed hope that the efforts of all regional countries, particularly Iran and Oman, would pave the way for a resolution to the Yemeni crisis.
Al-Harthy, for his part, expressed hope that the Yemeni crisis would be resolved as soon as possible, adding that his country welcomes peaceful, diplomatic solutions to regional issues.
It is worth mentioning that the Omani top diplomat is in Iran for a meeting of the Iran-Oman joint strategic consultative committee.
