Amir-Abdollahian: We will firmly defend the Axis of Resistance
The Candidate to lead the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, confirms Iran's cooperation with Saudi Arabia.
Iran's next Foreign Minister Nominee Hossein Amir-Abdollahian stated, on Sunday, that strengthening relations with neighboring countries as well as Islamic and Asian countries “will be prioritized in the near future,” during a speech he delivered while discussing cabinet formation in the Iranian parliament.
Amir-Abdollahian stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will participate in "economic diplomacy, as we have not focused on the economic component for the previous four decades, and this is what we will handle in the future era."
He added that although the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will not be the nuclear agreement Ministry, they will participate in negotiations that are in the best interest of the Iranian people.
Amir-Abdollahian also emphasized that the countries that are part of the Axis of resistance are the ones providing security in the region, stressing that Iran will firmly defend the Axis, as is well understood by the country's allies.
He added that Iran extends the hand of friendship to all neighboring countries in the region, acknowledging that they are able to provide the region's security through cooperation.
The top Iranian diplomat also disclosed that "Iran's cooperation with Saudi Arabia is in the interest of the region," calling for an "immediate cessation of the war on Yemen."
On Saturday, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi acknowledged that all programs organized and planned within the scope of the next government "seek to achieve justice and progress," emphasizing that "the moment has come for a jihadist and popular revival to build a powerful Iran."
While attending a parliament meeting, Raisi addressed Iran's foreign policy, explaining that Iran seeks a balanced policy, developing relations with its neighbors, and giving priority to the economy in foreign relations
