The Arab National Congress (ANC) has extended its condolences over the martyrdom of senior Hezbollah commander Haitham Ali al-Tabatabai, also known as Sayyed Abu Ali, who was killed in a Zionist airstrike targeting the Haret Hreik area in the Southern Suburb of Beirut.
In a statement, ANC Secretary-General Dr. Maher Al-Tahir condemned the "brutal crime," affirming that such acts will not deter the Arab nation’s path toward liberation.
“Such brutal crimes will not stop the nation’s march toward the liberation of its land and holy sites, as long as it has great resistance fighters, foremost among them the historic and exceptional leader, martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, as well as the commanders and fighters in Lebanon and Palestine and across the nation, who have inscribed, and continue to inscribe, epics of dignity and heroism on the path to Jerusalem and Palestine,” Al-Tahir said.
Hezbollah mourns Haitham al-Tabatabai
Hezbollah announced the martyrdom of al-Tabatabai on Sunday. Four of his comrades were martyred alongside him in the strike, and dozens of civilians were injured.
An architect of Hezbollah’s military structure, the martyred commander played a central role in resisting the Israeli occupation from the 1990s through 2024.
He led key operations during the 1993 and 1996 wars, commanded the Nabatieh and Khiam Axes before and after the 2000 liberation, and was instrumental in the 2006 war.
After the martyrdom of Hajj Imad Mughniyeh, he helped build the elite Radwan Force and headed Hezbollah's Intervention Force. In 2023 and 2024, he led operations during Operation Al-Aqsa Flood and the Battle of People of Might, eventually becoming the top military commander.
Hezbollah praised his lifelong dedication, vowing his martyrdom would only strengthen the Resistance’s resolve against "Israel" and its US backer.
