Araghchi says US facilitated Israeli attacks on Iran via air corridor
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reveals that Iranian military and security forces are closely monitoring the movements of Israeli and US troops in West Asia.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has affirmed that the United States played a role in the recent Israeli attacks on Iran, noting that the US facilitated an air corridor for Israeli forces and provided defensive equipment prior to the aggression, which he views as a form of complicity in the attacks.
In a televised interview, Araghchi asserted that Iran views Washington as complicit in both the recent attacks and the ongoing crimes committed by "Israel" against peoples of the region, as these actions are executed with US weapons and political backing. He emphasized that the collaboration between the US and "Israel" in escalating tensions in the region is glaringly apparent.
Araghchi also revealed that Iranian military and security forces are closely monitoring the movements of Israeli and US troops in the area.
“Our armed forces have conducted a thorough assessment and were able to predict the Zionist aggression in a timely manner, confronting this attack with full preparedness,” he stressed.
Iran vows to strengthen diplomatic efforts against "Israel"
Regarding Iran's international response to the Israeli aggression, Araghchi indicated that Tehran will continue its diplomatic efforts to build a global consensus against "Israel" and its actions, asserting that “Israel cannot persist in its crimes in the region without US support.”
He also described the upcoming Security Council meeting as an opportune moment to condemn the Israeli assault, stating, “We have called for a Security Council meeting, although there is little hope for a positive outcome due to the involvement of the United States and other nations.”
In response to the international condemnations of the Israeli attack, Araghchi remarked, “Since yesterday, Saturday, Iran has received messages from various countries, along with numerous statements that include widespread condemnations both regionally and internationally.”
He acknowledged that the international condemnation of the Zionist entity's aggressive actions has been substantial, highlighting its significance as a noteworthy development.
Four Iranian soldiers martyred; Iran maintains right to self-defense
Four Iranian soldiers were martyred while confronting the projectiles launched by the Israeli regime in order to defend the security of Iran and prevent harm to the nation and the interests of the country, the Iranian Army announced on Saturday.
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement following the Israeli attack on Iranian territory, condemning the aggression and calling it a blatant violation of international law and the United Nations Charter, particularly the principle prohibiting threats or use of force against a nation's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The statement emphasized that Iran, in accordance with its inherent right to self-defense as outlined in Article 51 of the UN Charter, considered it both justified and necessary to protect itself from foreign aggression.
It also reiterated Iran's commitment to using all available resources, both material and spiritual, to safeguard its national security and vital interests. The Ministry expressed gratitude to peace-seeking nations in the region and worldwide for condemning "Israel's" hostile actions.
The statement further noted that the ongoing Israeli occupation, illegal activities, and crimes in the region, particularly the genocide against Palestinians and attacks on Lebanon, are the primary causes of tension and instability.
These actions, the Ministry argued, persist under the military and political support of the United States and other Western nations.
Furthermore, Tehran called on all UN member states, signatories of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, and the 1949 Geneva Conventions to take urgent collective measures to address the blatant Israeli violations of international law and the UN Charter.
