At least 130 attacks on US forces in Syria, Iraq since Oct.: Exclusive
A US military official tells Al Mayadeen that the attacks comprised 53 in Iraq and 77 in Syria.
A US military official told Al Mayadeen on Friday that US forces have been subjected to at least 130 attacks in Syria and Iraq since October 17, 2023, up until yesterday, noting that the attacks comprised 53 in Iraq and 77 in Syria.
Earlier, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq announced that its fighters targeted the US occupation base in the Conoco oil field in Syria with a barrage of rockets.
Since October 17, the Resistance in Iraq has been consistently targeting US occupation bases in Iraq and Syria, pointing out that these operations come as part of their ongoing resistance against US occupation forces in the region and in response to the Israeli occupation entity's massacres against the Palestinian people in Gaza.
It is noteworthy that the Resistance's targets are not limited to US forces but also include Israeli targets. In fact, the Iraqi Resistance has claimed responsibility for several strikes on vital Israeli targets in southern occupied Palestine and the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.
In this context, the Resistance in Iraq announced carrying out two separate operations against Israeli targets at Friday dawn using appropriate weapons.
According to the Resistance group, one of the attacks struck a vital Israeli target in "Eilat" (occupied Umm al-Rashash), putting it out of service.
Sources from the Resistance group told Al Mayadeen that the second attack near the Jordan River Park targeted a control center belonging to the Golani Brigade. The center is responsible for espionage and intelligence gathering balloons, the sources indicated.
Three Israeli intelligence officers killed
The Iraqi Resistance has been launching operations against US and Israeli targets in support of Gaza for almost three months.
Confirming a previous report published by Al Mayadeen citing sources, the Jerusalem Times revealed on Thursday that three Israeli military intelligence officers were killed and four others were wounded in a drone strike targeting their headquarters in Iraqi Kurdistan's Erbil, on New Year's Eve.
On the day of the strike, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq announced carrying out four operations against several targets in response to the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza, one of which targeted a US military base near Erbil's airport.
According to the news website, all Israeli agents are US passport holders.
