At least 20 Palestinians were killed in the early hours of Wednesday following two separate airstrikes carried out by Israeli warplanes in the al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis and al-Shati refugee camp west of Gaza City, according to Palestinian Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal.
Speaking to Agence France-Presse, Basal said, "Paramedics recovered at least 20 martyrs, including at least six children and two women, along with dozens of injuries, following two airstrikes carried out by the occupation."
He further stated that 10 of the martyrs were killed when an Israeli strike targeted a tent sheltering displaced Palestinians from the Shaaban family in the al-Atar area of al-Mawasi, Khan Younis.
The second airstrike targeted a home belonging to the Jouda family in the al-Balakhia neighborhood in al-Shati refugee camp. That home was sheltering dozens of displaced individuals and resulted in 10 more martyrs, including six children and two women, and more than 30 injuries.
Home leveled with civilians inside
Earlier, Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported that 11 Palestinians were martyred in an Israeli airstrike that targeted a residential house in al-Shati camp.
Eyewitnesses stated that the three-story building was destroyed while its residents were still inside. One witness described the airstrike as "an earthquake-like explosion that obliterated the home and nearby houses, scattering the martyrs’ bodies and limbs," adding that "It was a horrifying massacre."
Death toll nears 58,000 martyrs
The Health Ministry in Gaza reported on Wednesday that 105 Palestinians were martyred and 530 others injured over the past 24 hours as a result of continued Israeli bombardment across the Gaza Strip. Medical teams confirmed that several victims remain trapped under the rubble or lie in the streets, unreachable by paramedics and civil defense crews due to the intensity of the attacks.
The report also noted that among the victims were seven martyrs and over 57 injuries resulting from attacks on aid seekers, bringing the total number of “Bread Martyrs” to 773 martyrs and more than 5,101 injuries.
Since the launch of the Israeli aggression on October 7, 2023, the overall toll has reached a staggering 57,680 martyrs and 137,409 injuries. This figure includes civilians of all ages, with widespread destruction across residential areas, displacement centers, and critical infrastructure, compounding the humanitarian crisis in the besieged Gaza Strip.
From March 18, 2025, to the present, the Health Ministry recorded 7,118 martyrs and 25,368 injuries. Health officials continue to warn of worsening conditions amid fuel shortages, overwhelmed hospitals, and the growing number of displaced families under threat.
Power outage hits al-Shifa medical complex
In a related development, Gaza’s Al-Shifa Medical Complex announced on Tuesday evening that power had been cut off in several departments due to a severe shortage of fuel needed to operate the hospital’s generators.
"Israel's" suffocating siege has systematically and relentlessly catalyzed the collapse of the healthcare system, hitting hospitals in particular, amid a devastating humanitarian crisis.
Last week, the last dialysis machines at Al-Shifa Medical Complex were forced to shut down. With no fuel left to power them, hundreds of patients now face death, not from injury, but from deliberate deprivation.
The Ministry of Health in Gaza confirmed the complete halt of dialysis treatments at the Strip’s largest hospital. Without electricity, without equipment, and without the medicine to sustain life, Gaza’s chronically ill are being left to die in silence.
This collapse is not incidental. It is the result of systematic targeting: hospitals bombed, fuel convoys blocked, aid denied. Al-Shifa Medical Complex, once a symbol of resilience, now stands as a casualty of a war waged not just with weapons, but with sieges.
According to health officials, more than 400 dialysis patients, nearly 40% of Gaza’s dialysis community, have already died since the war began. They were not killed in airstrikes; they were killed by "Israel's" policy, by blockade, by the refusal to allow fuel through the gates.
