Attacks on Lebanese civilians may amount to war crimes: UNIFIL
UNIFIL stated that additional escalation will have "far-reaching and devastating consequences, not only for those living on both sides of the Blue Line but also for the broader region."
The United Nations Interim Force In Lebanon (UNIFIL) has expressed its "grave concern for the safety of civilians in southern Lebanon amid the most intense Israeli bombing campaign since last October."
Lt. Gen. Aroldo Lázaro, Head of Mission and Force Commander of UNIFIL, has communicated with both Lebanese and the Israeli occupation, underscoring the critical need for de-escalation. According to the statement, efforts are underway to alleviate tensions and cease the shelling.
UNIFIL stated that additional escalation will have "far-reaching and devastating consequences, not only for those living on both sides of the Blue Line but also for the broader region."
The force announced the killing and injuring of hundreds of Lebanese civilians are "not only violations of international law but could amount to war crimes."
UNIFIL reiterated its strong support for a diplomatic settlement, urging all parties to commit to the UN Security Council Resolution 1701, "which is now more critical than ever to address the underlying causes of the conflict and ensure lasting stability."

'Israel' escalates aggression in Lebanese South
This comes as the Israeli occupation continues its intense aggression against Lebanon, targeting its villages and towns in the southern and Bekaa regions.
The Israeli occupation did not spare villages and towns farther from the Lebanese-Palestinian border and targeted those in the al-Tuffah region, including the al-Zahrani, Nabatieh, and Saida provinces, as well as the village of Bouslaiya in the Jezzine district.
Three people were martyred and three others were injured in an Israeli raid that targeted an industrial facility in Toul, in the Nabatieh district. In Saida, others were injured when the occupation targeted two residential buildings in Babliyeh and Sarafand, according to the official news agency.
In West Bekaa, the Israeli occupation targeted the Mashghara Heights.
Thus far, at least 275 have been killed and 1,024 others wounded.
