AU, US Dismissed an End to the Fighting In Ethiopia

The African Union (AU) and the United States have recently declared there is a "small window of an opening" to halt the fighting in Ethiopia between government forces and the Tigray Liberation Front.
On his account, AU High-Representative for the Horn of Africa and former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo said “all these leaders, here in Addis Ababa and the north, agree individually that the differences between them are political and require a political solution through dialogue.”
US State Departement: a meager opportunity for progress
On Monday, the US State Department stressed that Washington believes there is little opportunity to work with the African Union to make progress on peacefully resolving the conflict in Ethiopia as US special envoy, Jeffrey Feltman returned to Addis Ababa.
On his part, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has lately said that “Ethiopia must be ready to make sacrifices to salvage the country.”
Nine anti-government factions in Ethiopia formed an alliance with the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) fighters which have been fighting the government for a year now, threatening to advance into Addis Abeba.
