Moroccan authorities have uncovered a significant weapons cache supporting an ISIS cell in the Errachidia region, located in the northeastern part of the kingdom.
According to the local newspaper Hespress, Moroccan authorities tracked field intelligence that led them to a mountainous area suspected of serving as a logistical support base for an ISIS cell, supplying weapons and ammunition for its terrorist activities.
The newspaper stated, "Using satellite positioning with coordinates and geographical data obtained during the search, authorities identified the suspected area in the Errachidia region, located on the eastern border of the Kingdom."
The search operations led to the discovery of a cache of weapons and firearms buried beneath a rocky hill, including two Kalashnikov rifles with ammunition, two firearms, several pistols, and other items.
Hespress reported that "the seized weapons and equipment were sent by the leader of the ISIS organization in the Sahel region, who is responsible for foreign relations, through illegal smuggling routes and channels."
The police announced on Wednesday that they had thwarted "a terrorist plot that threatened the country," which was commissioned by a prominent leader in the ISIS organization in the African Sahel region.
The Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations, a security agency responsible for combating terrorism, revealed that the plot targeted several Moroccan cities, including Casablanca, Fez, Tangier, Azemmour, and Laayoune.
