AWOL mercenary US Navy SEAL killed in Ukraine
US Navy SEAL that deserted his post to fight as a mercenary in Ukraine succumbs to his wounds.
The US Navy SEAL, according to a report by TIME, who abandoned his position to engage as a mercenary in Ukraine was murdered by Russian forces this week.
According to the report, which cited a Navy officer, the Navy Special Warfare Operator First Class Daniel Swift died succumbed to wounds he had sustained following a Russian attack.
According to the report, Swift has been designated as an active deserter since March 11, 2019.
It is worth noting that the US State Department, however, has not confirmed the Navy SEAL's name, but did acknowledge that a US citizen died lately while fighting in Ukraine, the TIME report noted.
The Biden administration has asked US people, including military personnel and veterans, to refrain from traveling to Ukraine to participate as foreign fighters.
The Russian Defense Ministry has also cautioned that mercenaries who enter Ukraine are not considered official personnel or combatants and face the risk of execution or imprisonment.
