Bagheri Kani bashes EU duplicity over human rights issues
Iran's chief negotiator Ali Bagheri Kani says European countries apply double standards when it comes to human rights.
Iran's chief negotiator, Ali Bagheri Kani, slammed the European Union for its silence in the face of US violations of Iranians' rights while voicing concern about the situation of human rights in the country.
In response to remarks made by European countries on Iran's recent riots, Bagheri Kani tweeted: "The EU's deafening silence & over-compliance with the U.S. unlawful unilateral sanctions as well as widespread & systematic violations of the human rights of innocent Iranian people, as documented by @AlenaDouhan, is emblematic of its double standards vis-à-vis human rights."

This comes a day after the EU's foreign policy chief condemned Tehran for using "disproportionate" force against protesters.
Iran witnessed riots allegedly over the death of a young woman in Iranian police custody, which Iran repeatedly denied, while providing CCTV footage as proof, at a time when the Director General of Forensic Medicine in Tehran Province confirmed Wednesday that there were no traces of beating or wounds on the head and face of the late Iranian Mahsa Amini.
The Iranian police published CCTV footage documenting the last moments of Mahsa Amini at the police station. The Tehran police said the footage proved that the 22-year-old was not subjected to any violence or physical abuse.
