Amir-Abdollahian criticizes lack of initiative by western parties
In this context, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian criticized "the lack of initiative on the part of the Western parties", expressing his hope that these parties act based on logic and participate in the negotiations in good faith and initiative.
During a telephone conversation with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Amir-Abdollahian thanked and appreciated China's supportive stances towards Iran in the Vienna negotiations, describing the negotiation process as good, but at the same time criticized the lack of initiative by the Western parties in Vienna.
He also announced his readiness to visit Beijing shortly at the invitation of his counterpart.
For his part, Wang Yi affirmed his country's support for Iran's positions, considering the positive efforts of the Iranian side in the course of the negotiations in Vienna as paving the way for breakthroughs.
The Chinese Foreign Minister highlighted the need for cooperation with other developing countries against unilateralism and expansionism of world powers, notably the United States. Yi further stressed stressing his government's determination to further develop and deepen bilateral relations.
The seventh round of negotiations started and the Iranian delegation to the Vienna talks has five demands; the most pressing of which is the lifting of JCPOA-related sanctions, Al Mayadeen correspondent quoted well-informed Iranian sources as saying.
The sources explained the demands also included a sanction-lifting verification mechanism and guarantees they asserted were a must.
