The meetings come amid a series of recent engagements between Syrian leadership and regional players. Earlier this week, Al-Sharaa met with an Iraqi delegation headed by Director of Intelligence Hamid Al-Shatri. Their discussions centered on securing shared borders and preventing the resurgence of ISIS, according to reports from the Iraqi News Agency.
In recent days, Syrian leadership has also welcomed delegations from Qatar, Jordan, Turkiye, the United States, and representatives from Germany and the United Kingdom. Additionally, UN Special Envoy to Syria Geir Pedersen and a delegation from Lebanon's Progressive Socialist Party were also hosted in Damascus.
