German officials accused German Chancellor Olaf Scholz of drowning the nation deeper into the Ukrainian-Russia conflict during a "Peace Rally" attended by thousands of Germans in Berlin and called for by the left-wing Die Linke party.

The protesters, on Saturday, urged the German government to play a constructive role in ending the war in Ukraine rather than fueling the war with the continued weapons supply to Kiev.

More than 50,000 people attended the "Peace Rally" where several held banners that read "Make Peace, Without Weapons" and "Diplomacy Instead of Arms Deliveries," while others waved their flags.

Some protesters laid flowers on the wreck of a Russian T-72 tank. The tank was brought to the front of the Russian embassy in Berlin by German and Ukrainian activists in collaboration with the Ukrainian defense ministry.

Rather than celebrate its destruction, Germans lay flowers at the Russian T-72 in Berlin and demand their government stop fuelling the conflict in Ukraine.

Sahra Wagenknecht, a member of the German Bundestag, accused Scholz of dragging the nation deeper into the Ukrainian conflict and said "We do not feel represented by a chancellor who… repeatedly bows down to warmongers in his coalition and crosses one red line after another… We do not want German tanks to shoot at grandchildren of Russian women and men, millions of whom were slaughtered by the Wehrmacht."

It will be more rallies, she said, and even more will participate.
To demand peace, diplomatic negotiations to end #NATO's proxy-#UkraineRussianWar, & to stop weapons supplies.

Wagenknecht further criticized the defense industry lobbyists in the government, as well as Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock.

The MB accused the FM of "trampling on the international arena like a bull in a china shop" and having "so little control over what she says publicly that she has mistakenly declared a war on Russia."

On change.org, Wagenknecht launched a petition earlier this month that has been signed by almost 650,000 people.
