US President Joe Biden's aides are highly optimistic regarding the incumbent's bid to run again for president in 2024.

US President Joe Biden's aides welcomed on Wednesday former President Donald Trump's decision to make a third bid for the White House in the 2024 presidential elections despite concerns about the impact of his - potentially bitter - campaign on the country, Reuters reported.

Biden's team views Trump as a vulnerable politician that suffered defeat at their hands once before, Reuters reported several aides as saying in an assessment of the former president's formal entry into the 2024 presidential race.

The aides, however, also expressed concerns about the impact that what they called a "bitter campaign" between the two former foes could have on the United States, the report added.

Trump on Tuesday announced his intent to run for president again after losing in 2020. Trump proposed policies such as term limits on Congress members, lobbying restrictions by former US government officials, and election reforms.

He led his announcement by listing his "accomplishments" during his presidential term, bashing the Biden administration and the "radical left" for the current economic state of the country, among other policies that to this day have remained highly controversial.

Biden is yet to formally announce a reelection bid, saying earlier this month that he will decide on the matter next year.

Meanwhile, the former President told the crowd of Republicans to be present for the announcement that in order for the party to claim back the White House, the candidate cannot be "a politician or conventional candidate".

It is worth noting that a number of party figures blamed Trump for Republicans' weaker-than-expected performance in the elections, suggesting that it's time to move on.

A majority of likely US voters say Trump shouldn't be running for office again in 2024, according to a new Rasmussen report. The poll surveyed a population of 2,000 likely US voters on November 10,13,14, and 15.

The poll projects that 23% of respondents said that they believe Trump should run for president again in 2024, while 60% said that he shouldn't.

Republicans prefer DeSantis over Trump for President

Republicans and independents more aligned with Republicans seem to prefer Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, one of the top names that come up in the conversation about GOP presidential candidates, over former President Donald Trump, a poll released on Friday showed.

The YouGov survey found that 42% of Republicans and GOP-leaning independents and Republican-leaning independents said they would prefer DeSantis over Trump to run in 2024. Only 35% said they would prefer Trump over the Florida governor.

Respondents that say they fell into the "strong Republicans" category were more likely to support a third presidential run for Trump (45%) over DeSantis, the Florida governor that won his reelection on Tuesday. Meanwhile, 43% of that same category said they would prefer DeSantis.

However, Republican-leaning independents preferred DeSantis over the former president (45%), while only 21% said they preferred Trump.

38% of "not very strong Republican" respondents said they would rather see DeSantis as President while only 31% said they would prefer Trump as president.

The poll results came in light of tensions between DeSantis and Trump after the governor won the race for governor by a landslide
