Biden to announce directions to US military to establish port in Gaza
The US President is set to establish a port under the guise of bringing in humanitarian aid to Gaza while simultaneously funding the Israeli regime's very same policies that led to the man-made disaster.
US President Joe Biden will inform Congress on Thursday that he has directed the US military to establish a port in Gaza to bring more humanitarian supplies into the besieged strip by sea, according to top US officials.
The announcement would allegedly not include any US boots on the ground in Palestine since military forces will remain offshore.
A senior administration official told reporters that Biden plans to make the announcement during his State of the Union address.
"This port, the main feature of which is a temporary pier, will provide the capacity for hundreds of additional truckloads of assistance each day," the official, who wished to remain anonymous, told AFP.
According to US sources, the "significant capability will take a number of weeks to plan and execute" and would include a maritime corridor transporting assistance by sea from Cyprus.
A second official stated that it was "foreseen to be an operation that won't require boots on the ground," adding that the US military possesses "unique capabilities" that allow them to operate offshore.
These "unique capabilities" are certainly not enough to influence the murderous Israeli regime into a ceasefire nor are they enough to deprive the Israeli occupation of military aid as it continues to bombard Gaza to pieces.
Instead, Biden is providing minimal aid to Gazans under the guise of standing up to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his right-wing war cabinet.
The official also divulged that the Israeli administration had been notified, and the US would collaborate with them on "security requirements" while also collaborating with "partners and allies," including UN and assistance groups on the ground.
The statement before Biden's important State of the Union speech highlights the intense political pressure he is under for his unwavering support for "Israel", despite the growing Gaza death toll and disastrous humanitarian situation partially being funded by the US itself.

The news comes as Democratic members of Congress are becoming more outspoken against the Israeli Prime Minister's right-wing government and more forthright in their calls for a long-term solution, in addition to a Palestinian state.
On Tuesday night, Biden faced yet another embarrassment when "uncommitted" received roughly 46,000 votes — 19% of the total — in the Minnesota primary, amid a campaign by Democrats opposing his policy in Gaza.
Yet again, incapable of standing up to "Israel"
Airdrops of humanitarian aid to Gaza may not be necessary if pressure on the Israeli occupation was effective, Patrick Wintour of The Guardian reported last week.
A day after the Israeli occupation committed the Flour Massacre, Biden announced plans to carry out a military airdrop of food and supplies to the besieged Strip, which is nearing famine.
Wintour remarks that the use of airdropping supplies at random "makes little sense" and is particularly costly when there is the option of the West exerting more influence over "Israel".
The chief executive of Medical Aid for Palestinians, Melanie Ward, stated that rather than dropping aid packages from the sky and having some end up "in the sea or outside of Gaza," "Israel's" allies, namely the US and the UK, should pressure the occupation to open "all crossings into Gaza for aid and aid workers to assist those in need. This includes the 'Karni and Erez' crossings, which give direct access to the north of Gaza."
White House National Security Communications Advisor, John Kirby, explained that the US was trying to "be more creative" to meet the needs of the people of Gaza desperate for help.
Many observers have noted that the situation does not call for creativity but rather a simple phone call from Biden would put an end to the carnage.
It is evident that the US is willing to go to great lengths to not openly come out and stand up to "Israel".
