Biden to tell Netanyahu ceasefire needed 'soon': White House
Despite asserting that the White House wishes to push for a ceasefire, the US has been the leading global sponsor of the Israeli genocide against Gazans.
US President Joe Biden is set to tell Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that a ceasefire in Gaza is needed "soon," according to the White House. This statement came as the leaders convened to discuss the ongoing war on Gaza that has been ongoing for 10 months.
White House national security spokesman John Kirby informed reporters that the US believes a deal is possible but will require "some leadership, some compromise and an effort to get there. The president will be reaffirming for Prime Minister Netanyahu that he believes we need to get there, and we need to get there soon."
Despite asserting that the White House wishes to push for a ceasefire, the US has been the leading global sponsor of the Israeli genocide against Gazans.
The New York Times reported on Thursday, citing data from an analysis published by the Jewish Institute for National Security of America, that the US has sent "Israel" a substantial quantity of weaponry since October 7.
The shipments include over 20,000 unguided bombs, approximately 2,600 guided bombs, and 3,000 precision missiles. The US has also provided aircraft, ammunition, and air defense systems.
Many of these transfers were kept secret or remained partially confidential, the report notes.
An analysis by the Foundation for Defense of Democracies in the spring found that the arms supplied up to March constituted "an enormous number and variety of weapons," which have been vital in supporting "Israel's" security apparatus.
The analysis also suggested that "it seems unlikely that Israel could attain across-the-board weapons and munitions self-sufficiency anytime soon)," with some experts believing it may never be able to do so.
On Wednesday, Netanyahu visited Congress to deliver a speech that featured several jabs at the International Criminal Court (ICC), which had requested the issuance of arrest warrants against him and his Security Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes in the Strip.
Iran calls US human rights claims 'ludicrous' after Netanyahu speech
Nasser Kanaani, spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, criticized the United States on Thursday for presenting itself as a human rights advocate after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke in Congress on Wednesday.
Kanaani remarked in a social media post that "Having committed genocide and infanticide for nine consecutive months, the criminal prime minister of a fake regime is hugged and embraced by his supporters ... The slogan of human rights is now the most ludicrous phrase heard from the American and European leaders,"
Kanaani also said that Netanyahu's favorable reception in Washington revealed "the brutal and malevolent face" of US politics to the world, damaging Western civilization's "deceitful efforts to portray itself as an innocent and humane face."
Kanaani also posted that Palestinian children were getting slain at the hands of the "Tel Aviv butcher" every day.
He further added that the ordinary rights of Palestinians, such as the rights to life, security, food, water, medicine, and treatment are being violated in Gaza and before everyone's eyes, while Congress and the US administration receive Netanyahu "the executioner" with applause.
