Biden: Those Summoned in Capitol Attack Should be Prosecuted
The US President Joe Biden affirms that the committee investigating the riots in the US House of Representatives should prosecute and hold accountable those who refuse subpoenas.
US President Joe Biden said the US Department of Justice should prosecute those refusing to testify before a Congressional committee investigating the January 6 attack on Capitol.
In response to a question about those who reject subpoenas issued by the committee, Biden expressed his hope that "the committee goes after them and holds them accountable."
The committee said it would hold a hearing next Tuesday to vote on whether to approve a contempt report against Steve Bannon, a former advisor to President Donald Trump, citing Bannon's refusal to cooperate with its probe.
Four people from former President Donald Trump's inner circle received subpoenas to appear before a congressional committee to shed light on what exactly Trump said and did the day the Capitol was stormed earlier this year.
Congressional investigators are closing in on Trump, whom Democrats blame for the deadly attack on the Capitol in Washington.
