Biden's approval rating worse than Trump's

A recent US opinion poll reveals that 56% of the US reject the performance of President Joe Biden, and only 40% accept his performance, which makes him less popular than Donald Trump 4 years ago.

Poll shows half of Americans unsatisfied with Biden.

As Biden enters his second year in office, Biden sees a decline in American approval rating: in a poll on Wednesday, Biden's record is 56% in his job performance rating.

The poll, conducted by Morning Consult, inquisited 2,005 registered voters between January 15 to 16.

This makes Biden less popular than his predecessor 4 years ago.

"Forty percent of voters approve of Biden’s job performance, while 56 percent disapprove, record lows and highs, respectively, from nearly 50 Morning Consult/Politico surveys conducted since he took office," the statement said.

The approval rating - 40% - is a record low for Biden since becoming president last year. In 2018, Donald Trump had a 45-50% approval rating.

However, Biden is outdoing Trump - though slightly - when it comes to voters evaluating his handling of a range of issues during the first year in office.

"Among the average independent voter, Biden received better marks than Trump did four years ago on health care, climate change, and foreign relations, but underperformed his predecessor on jobs and the economy," the statement added.

The margin of error is 2% for the poll.

NBC poll highlighted Biden's worsening approval ratings

Last November, the approval rating of US President Joe Biden plummeted, reaching the low level of his predecessor Donald Trump.

The NBC poll revealed that 54% of Americans, more than half the nation, disapproved of the incumbent president’s performance. These negative numbers came right ahead of the midterm elections, which could signal a seismic shift in voting preferences.

Moreover, the “favorable/unfavorable” rating of Biden was highly similar to the numbers Trump previously got in a previous NBC survey: 40 percent positive, 48 percent negative for Biden in comparison to his predecessor’s 38 percent positive, 50 percent negative. Comparing these numbers with the rating Biden had during the 2020 general election, one can notice a steep drop in popularity.

Taking into consideration that the campaign Biden ran was mostly based around undoing Trump’s “legacy,” the high disapproval rating highlighted a strong similarity in the public perception of both administrations.
