Blast in Gaza kills 5 Palestinians
The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza reports that five people were killed in a blast in the Maleka refugee camp, east of Gaza City.
Five Palestinians were killed, and several others sustained serious injuries on Wednesday evening as a result of the explosion of an unknown device in the Maleka refugee camp, east of Gaza City.
The Gaza Ministry of Health reported the tragic loss of five lives and revealed that 25 individuals were wounded, with some in critical condition, all of whom were rushed to Al-Shifa Medical Complex in eastern Gaza following the explosion.
According to a statement from the Revolutionary Youth, a group of engineering unit fighters approached the entrance of Maleka to plant a heavy-caliber explosive device.
However, the occupation forces ambushed them and opened fire on their location while they were attempting to plant the device. The fighters were unable to withdraw and the device detonated.
Clashes erupted earlier in the day between Palestinian youths and the Israeli military near the Maleka Israeli military site. During these clashes, Israeli soldiers fired live ammunition and gas canisters at the Palestinian youths.
Local sources reported that hundreds of youths gathered today near the border fence in solidarity with Palestinian prisoners, protesting against Israeli attacks in prisons, the occupation's mistreatment of prisoners, and condemning the ongoing blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip.
The Palestinian youths also gathered there to mark the Israeli occupation's withdrawal from Gaza in 2005, which is known as Resistance Day.
September 12 will remain a pivotal moment in the history of the Palestinian people and a beacon of hope on the path to ending the Zionist project and its withdrawal from all of Palestine, the Palestinian Joint Operations Room said on Wednesday.
