Blinken: "Israel", US have disagreements about a nuclear agreement
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken asserts that Washington is committed to the basic principle of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, and stresses that returning to the agreement is the best plan.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Sunday that the Biden administration believes that "the return to full implementation" of the nuclear deal was "the best way to put Iran's program back in the box that it was in but has escaped from since the United States withdrew from the agreement," in 2018.
Blinken made the comments in occupied Al-Quds alongside his Israeli counterpart Yair Lapid, adding that “when it comes to the most important element, (Israel and the US) see eye to eye. We are both committed, both determined, that Iran will never acquire a nuclear weapon."
On his account, the Israeli foreign minister emphasized that the US and “Israel” will continue to work together to prevent a nuclear Iran, adding “the world cannot afford a nuclear Iran.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, he noted that “Israel and the US have disagreements about a nuclear agreement and its consequences, but open and honest dialogue is part of the strength of our friendship.”
Iranian Foreign Affairs Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian assured that Iran’s foreign policy is stable in terms of its political independence from both the West and the East.
In an exclusive interview with Al Mayadeen, Amir-Abdollahian stressed that Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s administration pursues smart diplomacy, openness, and effective cooperation with all countries, adding that “our foreign policy has steady tenets, but there may be differences in approaches between one government and another.”
The US Department of State has announced that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will visit occupied Palestine including the occupied West Bank, Morocco, and Algeria in the coming days to discuss regional issues not to mention the war in Ukraine.
The department announced, on Thursday, that Blinken's tour, which will run from March 26 to March 30, will begin in “Israel” and the occupied West Bank and end in Algeria.
