Bodies of 17 Palestinian detainees held by IOF: PPS
The Palestinian Prisoners' Society reports that the Israeli occupation continues to hold the body of the martyr Nasser Abu Hamid, along with the bodies of 16 prisoners who are held in the occupation's prisons.
On Wednesday, the Palestinian Prisoners' Society confirmed that a year after the martyrdom of Nasser Abu Hamid, the Israeli occupation persists in detaining his body, along with 16 other prisoners associated with the Palestinian Captive Movement.
The statement revealed that among them is Anis Dawla, whose body has been detained since 1980, making his case the oldest, while the remaining bodies have been held since 2018 onwards.
According to the Society's records, "Israel" is retaining the bodies of six prisoners who died as a result of torture after October 7, including an unidentified individual from the Gaza Strip.
December 20, 2022, marks the first anniversary of the martyrdom of Nasser Abu Hamid, who succumbed to the harsh conditions and systematic medical crimes perpetrated against him throughout his life, leading to his eventual martyrdom in Israeli occupation prisons.

The Palestinian Prisoners' Society emphasized that this anniversary occurs "amidst the ongoing aggression against our people and the atrocities in Gaza, against a backdrop of escalating crimes, torture, and abuse directed at prisoners and detainees in occupation prisons."
The Studies and Documentation Unit of the Palestinian Prisoners and Ex-Detainees Affairs Authority had previously reported that "600 Palestinian prisoners are grappling with illness in Israeli occupation prisons," highlighting the dire conditions, brutal treatment, cruel torture, and criminality practiced by the Zionist entity against Palestinian prisoners in its detention facilities.
Who is the Nasser Abu Hamid?
Nasser Abu Hamid, from Al-Amari camp, Ramallah, is one of five brothers who were [all] sentenced to life by the Israeli authorities. They are Nasr, Nasser, Sharif, Mohammad, and Islam, who were arrested in 2018. The sixth brother is martyr Abdel Moneim Abu Hamid.
Their mother was deprived of visiting them for years, they lost their father during detention, and their family home was demolished 5 times - the last of which was in 2019.
During the first year of the First Intifada, in 1987, Nasser was arrested for the first time for four months. Then, he was arrested again and was sentenced to two and a half years in prison.
After his release, he was re-arrested for the third time in 1990. After spending four years in prison, he was released again after negotiations and was re-arrested in 1996.
During the Second Intifada, Abu Hamid resisted the Israeli occupation, which led to his arrest in 2002. The prisoner received seven sentences of life imprisonment plus 50 years - he is still in captivity to this day, despite his chronic illness.
