British ship ordered by Yemen to change course
The Yemeni Armed Forces ordered a British ship to change course as it was approaching the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported Saturday that a shipping vessel was ordered by "an entity declaring itself to be the Yemeni authorities" to alter course in the Red Sea.
The "UKMTO has been made aware of an entity declaring itself to be the Yemeni authorities ordering a vessel to alter course," the body said.
It further advised all vessels in the vicinity to "exercise caution and report any suspicious activity to UKMTO."
The Deputy Prime Minister for Defense and Security Affairs in the Sanaa Government in Yemen, Jalal al-Rowaishan, told Al Mayadeen that the temporary humanitarian truce, between the Palestinian Resistance and "Israel", will not affect the government's decision to close the Red Sea off for Israeli vessels.
"The truce concerns Gaza, and the military spokesman announced that our decision to close the Red Sea to the enemy still stands," al-Rowaishan affirmed.
He emphasized that the Yemeni position on the war on Gaza has been popularly and officially declared, adding that Yemen will no longer seek diplomatic means in relation to the Israeli occupation's aggression on the Gaza Strip.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Yemeni Armed Forces vowed to continue its operations against "Israel" until it ceases its aggression on Gaza and its crimes against the Palestinian people.
"We reaffirm that our operations target ships flying the Israeli flag, operated by Israeli companies, or owned by Israeli individuals," the statement read.
On this note, sources told Al Mayadeen that an Israeli ship was targeted in the Arabian Sea (north of the Indian Ocean) on Thursday night — Friday dawn shortly before the temporary truce in Gaza came into effect.
The sources confirmed that the ship was directly hit, and it caught fire as a result of the attack.
The party behind the operation has not been specified.
The Yemeni Armed Forces have launched consistent attacks on Israeli military sites in occupied Palestine, utilizing ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and attack drones. Yemen has also witnessed weekly mass protests in support of Palestine through the 49 days of aggression that the Gaza Strip faced. This highlights the commitment of both the Sanaa authorities and the Yemeni people to support Palestine and its people.
