China cancels multiple cooperation agreements with US
China announces it will be ending cooperation with the United States on important issues such as climate change, anti-drug efforts and military talks
China announced Friday it will be ending cooperation with the United States on important issues such as climate change, anti-drug efforts and military talks, as Sino-US relations deteriorate after Washington stubbornly made its way to Taiwan, breaching Chinese sovereignty.
In response to the visit, since Thursday, China has encircled the island with a series of huge military drills.
On Friday, the Chinese foreign ministry took more measures against Washington, suspending talks and cooperation on a number of agreements. The United States and China, two of the world's largest polluters, put their hands together last year to work together to accelerate climate action.
Pelosi, after the visit, was sanctioned by Beijing. Nonetheless, she defended her trip to Taiwan, saying that the US won't "allow" China to isolate the island.

Taiwan, furthermore, condemned China's response to the visit, as premier Su Tsend-chang called for de-escalation.
"(We) didn't expect that the evil neighbor next door would show off its power at our door and arbitrarily jeopardize the busiest waterways in the world with its military exercises," he told reporters.
Taipei reported that Chinese fighter jets and ships crossed the "median line" that goes down the Taiwan Strait on Friday morning.
"As of 11 am, multiple batches of Chinese warplanes and warships conducted exercises around the Taiwan Strait and crossed the median line of the strait," Taipei's defense ministry said in a statement.
China vows reunification with Taiwan after Pelosi's visit
China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that the Chinese government will undoubtedly complete the process of reunification with Taiwan.
Commenting on the unannounced visit of US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan, Wang affirmed that "Taiwan is a part of China. The implementation of national reunification is a general trend and historic imminence."
In a statement, the top diplomat stressed that "Taiwan’s problem arose when the country was weak and was in chaos, it will definitely finalize as the nation revives."
"We will leave no space for external interference and to forces supporting Taiwan’s independence," he said.
He went on to say that effort to court Beijing using the Taiwan issue is predestined to fail.
The US has become "the main destroyer" of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, Wang noted.
"This once again demonstrates that some American politicians are destroyers of Sino-US relations, whereas the US has become the primary destroyer of peace and regional stability between the two shores of the Taiwan Strait," he concluded.
