China reaffirms alliance with Venezuela after Maduro's inauguration

Chinese President Xi Jinping sent Wang Dongming, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, to attend the inauguration of Nicolas Maduro for his third presidential term, Xinhua reports.
This gesture reflects Beijing's commitment to its "all-weather strategic partnership" with Venezuela, despite Western pressure on Maduro's government.
According to Xinhua, Wang conveyed President Xi's "cordial greetings and good wishes" to Maduro and congratulated him on his re-election.
During their discussions, both officials reaffirmed the importance of enhancing their partnership. Wang stated that China is willing to "develop" its friendship with Venezuela and "push forward" bilateral relations.
Maduro reciprocated by asking Wang to convey his "highest respect and sincere greetings" to Xi Jinping, while expressing Venezuela's readiness to "lift bilateral ties to a new level."

China and Venezuela's relationship, which marked its 50th anniversary in 2024, has been characterized by mutual cooperation in areas such as trade, energy, and technology. The bond has deepened as Venezuela continues to face economic sanctions from Western nations.
