China urges tech cooperation between Beijing and Moscow
The two countries look to enhance bilateral relations through tech cooperation.
Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Eurasian Affairs, Li Hui, recommended on Wednesday that China and Russia expand on their existing cooperation areas and tackle the field of advanced technologies.
"Russia and China should not only enhance the main areas of cooperation – economy, trade, energy, science and technology, aerospace, agriculture – but also expand into new spheres, such as 5G, AI, Big Data, biomedicine, green and low-carbon economy," Li said, addressing the 7th International Conference Russia and China: Cooperation in a New Era.

Li noted that intensifying cooperation in these areas will further strengthen bilateral relations.
Main ‘strategic partner’
In March, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called Moscow Beijing’s “most important strategic partner.” The relationship remains “one of the most crucial bilateral relationships in the world,” and one “conducive to world peace, stability, and development,” he said.
“No matter how perilous the international landscape is, we will maintain our strategic focus and promote the development of a comprehensive China-Russia partnership in the new era. The friendship between the two peoples is ironclad, and both sides’ future cooperation prospects are tremendous,” he said.
In April, the Chinese ambassador in Moscow Zhang Hanhui stressed that his country was ready to guarantee uninterrupted supplies of Russian products to its market.
"We are working to ensure reception of Russian goods in a priority mode from our side, and guarantee uninterrupted supplies of Russian products to the Chinese market. I think that the demand for Russian goods [in China] is growing," he told a meeting of the parliamentary group for relations with the Chinese Parliament in the State Duma, the lower house of the Russian parliament.
Zhang also added that the Chinese embassy was ready to promote the development of business ties between Russian and Chinese entrepreneurs as the two countries grow closer in light of the Western bids to isolate and corner Russia.
