City of Donetsk heavily shelled by Ukrainian troops - DPR
Ukrainian troops fired 25 122-mm caliber shells at the Petrovsky District and the Trudovskaya mine area in Donetsk today.
Ukrainian military shelled Donetsk with 122-mm artillery in the early hours of Monday, according to the Donetsk People's Republic's (DPR) mission to the Joint Center for Control and Coordination on the Ceasefire Regime (JCCC).
At around 01:20 and 01:40 GMT respectively, 25 122-mm caliber shells were fired at the Petrovsky District and the Trudovskaya mine area in Donetsk, the DPR mission said.
On Friday, April 8th, the DPR headquarters announced that Ukrainian troops used a Tochka-U missile in an attack on the railway station in the city of Kramatorsk, located in the Donetsk region, but is controlled by Ukrainian forces.
At least 50 people were killed, while 87 others were injured, according to DPR data. The Russian Defense Ministry has denied reports of a Russian attack on the Kramatorsk railway station, stating that, based on witness images of missile fragments, such missiles are only employed by Ukrainian soldiers.
Kiev's attack on the railway station aims to disrupt mass evacuation and to use residents as a human shield, the defense ministry said.
Earlier, the DPR representative office in the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of the ceasefire regime (JCCC) said that 73 people have been killed in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and 1,254 have been injured in the last 52 days.
In a statement, the DPR mission detailed that "during the 52 days of the conflict escalation by the Ukrainian armed forces, 73 civilians were killed, one person died today, 1,254 sustained injuries of varying severity, including 74 children."
The DPR authorities documented a total of 1,756 incidents of bombing by Ukrainian soldiers, including 1,566 with heavy weaponry.
The statement added that as a result of intense shelling by Ukrainian troops, 2,057 residential buildings, 527 civil infrastructure facilities, and 259 vehicles were demolished.
Russia launched its special military operation in Ukraine on February 24, after the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR) appealed for help in defending themselves against Ukrainian provocations. Russia said that its special operation aims to demilitarize and "denazify" Ukraine and that only military infrastructure is being targeted.
