A US airstrike north of the Yemeni capital Sanaa has left one civilian dead and four others injured, the spokesperson for the Health Ministry said on Sunday.
In a statement published on social media Sunday, ministry official Anis al-Asbahi confirmed the casualties.
"According to preliminary information, one civilian has been killed and another four have been injured as a result of the US aggression on Sunday, March 30, 2025, against a village opposite the Jadr area of the Bani Al Harith district north of Sanaa," al-Asbahi wrote.
Overnight, strikes were renewed on the capital, targeting the Sarf area in the Bani Hashish District, Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported.
Escalating front
The strike is part of a growing US military campaign targeting northern and central Yemen—areas under the control of Sanaa forces. This campaign, initiated on March 15 under orders from President Donald Trump, came in response to renewed Yemeni operations on Israeli-linked vessels in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea. The group has framed these operations as a direct response to the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
Over the past two weeks, the US has conducted dozens of airstrikes across Yemeni territory, including in Sanaa, Saada, and Kitaf, targeting alleged Yemeni military positions and infrastructure. Just hours before Sunday's airstrike in Bani Al Harith, American warplanes also struck areas in the Sahar District and eastern Saada, according to reports from Al Mayadeen.
Despite the intensifying bombardment, Yemeni leaders have declared that such attacks will not deter their operations in support of Palestine. In a recent Eid al-Fitr speech, Yemen's Supreme Political Council President Mahdi al-Mashat denounced the US campaign as a failure.
"The US aggression against Yemen is in support of the Israeli occupation's crimes against the Palestinian people," he said, adding that the strikes have primarily harmed civilians and failed to alter the strategic calculus.

Earlier today, the Yemeni Armed Forces claimed responsibility for targeting an American E-2 surveillance aircraft linked to the USS Harry S. Truman, saying the strike disrupted US naval command operations in the region. Additionally, the group launched a ballistic missile strike on "Israel's" Ben Gurion Airport, underscoring the growing regional implications of the conflict.
